Built by the people, for the people
In 1995, twenty-eight leaders from the Rongmei, Riang, Hmar and Kuki communities came together across Lungbungzang, Cachar (Assam), Jiribam and Tamenglong (Manipur) to take up development initiatives of their own. First formed as PAFCORD, the organization became People’s Endeavour for Social Changes (PESCH) in 1997, registered under the Societies Registration Act.
Today PESCH works across Assam and Manipur on livelihoods, natural resource management and climate action, value-based education, skill development and disaster response — strengthening local institutions with full legal compliance.

A holistic model that ties livelihoods, resources, skills and education to community-led institutions.
Institution Building
Forming and strengthening Self-Help Groups, village federations, Farmer Producer Organizations, youth clubs and Village Planning Committees — the grassroots institutions that anchor community-led development.

Training programmes for rural youth and women in value addition of local produce — Tamenglong oranges, Naga king chilli, forest fruits, and traditional bamboo and cane crafts.

Sustainable agriculture through kitchen gardens, SALT farming and seed banks, alongside livestock banks for piggery, goatery and poultry — securing food and diversified income for rural families.

Nature-based solutions: reviving forest fruit species, conserving agrobiodiversity through seed banks, check dams for water recharge, improved cookstoves, and community stewardship of forests.
